The longest and slowest month is drawing to a close – I can’t say I’m not glad to have January behind us and be looking forward to all those signs of Spring. I’m certainly grateful to see the afternoons lasting just that little bit longer each day. Being exposed to more daylight gives us such a boost and stimulates good health on so many levels – our mood is lighter which lifts our immune system, our appetites change, maybe looking for something a little less comforting and a bit fresher, and the growing desire to get out and about starts to take over.
The last few months certainly have been challenging for so many which is exactly where Homeopathy can really help and support. A few well chosen remedies in the cupboard along with the old favourites you may always have to hand can make these coughs, colds and flu be a lot less challenging to recover from.
If you have children in the house my number one remedy would be Pulsatilla. From when they are snuffly babies to toddlers with that seemingly perpetual green snot wiped on their faces – and you! – to school children coming home with the latest bug, Pulsatilla is a great place to start.
With all new parents it is such a joy to see their first tentative steps into the world of Homeopathy develop into becoming confident about what remedies they need to have in the cupboard and when to use them.
When I first started using Homeopathy I was a home prescriber – I was getting to know what remedies worked for my son, how to use them and of course importantly, when to call the Homeopath. I had quite a collection by the time he was 5 years old – I had remedies for teething, bumps and bruises, fever, upset tummy, you name it and I’m pretty sure I had something to fit the bill in my shoebox. And that is how I became involved in the world of Homeopathy. My knowledge grew and I knew I wanted to be able to do more.
Of course, you can just get to know what works for your family and stop there. Having something to hand that does more than just stop what’s happening and actually aids the healing process is both powerful and gratifying. Being a home prescriber and taking care of acute illnesses is well within your grasp.
Here’s to a brighter, healthier Spring.
