This week at Bath Natural Remedies my colleague Nicola Mills and myself will be delivering part four of our workshop series on Women’s Health looking at before, during and after menopause. Nicola is bringing her extensive knowledge and experience of nutrition to the table and I will be drawing from my many years of Homeopathy experience.
This week is about looking after your health after the menopause has settled and you feel post menopausal, sometimes not easy to be clear about but that’s the nature of the menopause. Wherever you feel you are in this transitionary phase of our lives information is power.
Both of us are post menopausal and have very different experiences and at the same time there is a common thread running through this transition. We both understood so many aspects of our lives were changing and both of us were determined to get to other side of all the chaos in the best possible health.
The prospect of menopause can feel really daunting especially with all the press that’s around at the moment. Some of the information out there I find very frustrating as it has reduced this phase of women’s health to a black or white issue. To HRT or to not HRT? If only it was that simple.
The best advice I can give you is to inform yourself. You are not wrong to choose HRT and you are not wrong to not choose HRT. The choice is yours and if you have enough information to make a comfortable decision then that is what is best for you. However we get through this rather chaotic and sometimes confusing stage of our life cycle the most important thing is to have your own health care included in your busy schedule. That might be a focus on nutrition or exercise or having remedies to hand. The main thing is that you do have your own healthcare on the “to do” list.
Half an hour every day to consider what you need to look after yourself will go a long way in keeping your sanity and your health in good order. We as women need to get much better at pre-empting what we need rather than playing catch up.
So please come along on the 4th if you would like to join the discussion on post menopausal health – phone BNR on 01225 466 944 to book a spot – we will be discussing remedies and nutrition and always look forward to hearing your experiences. We are all learning.
